Bonneville Ends at 2 TODAY
As the final day of racing has come, the Klock Werks team is on the Salt and in line as we speak. Here is the most recent update from Brian from the Salt this morning:
Greetings from the "hurry up and wait game" that is Bonneville Salt Flat racing. They ran a record 363 passes just on Wednesday was the unofficial word we got yesterday but the wait time was still 2 hours plus early in the morning. The wind is up right now so things are on hold waiting for them to go down. Think about what
even 10 mph of wind does at 100 plus miles an hour on two wheels, we are okay with the wait.
Wednesday saw Karlee get a medallion for the 150 mph club and she set an unofficial (for now) record at over 150 with her ProCharger powered Dyna in just 8 runs. Pretty impressive if you consider the bike was built in 5 days, marginally tuned, and she didn't ride it until we got here. She is so funny as she explained that it was only turning 4000 RPM in 5th
gear! That leaves plenty of room for growth on the "Dyna-MITE" and you might want to be on the watch for a Team Klock Werks painted Flat Black and Red as she will be taking it to the streets complete with clip-ons and rearsets as that is how this short spitfire of a daughter rolls.
Chris Degen also made the factory proud by piloting a Dyna dubbed "Dyna-MO" that ran in production class. The bike is owned by Chris Meeks, our CFO, and now is an unofficial holder of the top time in the production 1650 class for that 96" 6 Speed ride that was painted in team colors and rocking an Interstate Battery of course! Great tuning and tweaking pushed Chris
Degen to a best of 131 mph on that street bike. Lots of people were very impressed with that number and for Chris' first passes on the salt - he can be proud! This accomplishment again speaks volumes for the team efforts and the talents in our community.
Erika at age 19 has now just set her FOURTH land speed record following verification as her skills have improved. She pushed that XB-9 Buell to a new high of 138 mph and it too was torn down with the "Dyna-MO" yesterday to verify the engine and go through a tech inspection. She is being honored by her younger sister Karlee (16) with the privilege of making a pass
on that supercharged "Dyna-MITE" Lowrider. She is 4 up in line and anticipation sets in.
Laura is having fun promoting fun, the salt and her Vision as soooo many questions come about what is that. It's fun to watch, she is such a den mother of this whole event and the salt. Today is our anniversary and I couldn't be more blessed than to spend it with my lovely wife and beautiful step daughters. Proud papa
moments and prouder husband for sure!!
Tiadra is within 6 miles an hour and now maybe has ten passes under her belt at the young age of 13! She is doing amazing. This is no small feat, ask Chris Degen when we get home. Her 250 Kawasaki Ninja has served her well thus far and has been a great learning experience.
Michelle has run a personal best in the partial streamlined class at 145 mph and has set an unofficial mark with our 2002 Yamaha Warrior flying team colors. Ti has a great example for a mom.
Erika is now 2 away, Laura follows her, and Michelle and Tiadra are staged so more later...Brian
Stay tuned for pictures and final results...
The Great White Dyno
Word from late yesterday was Chris Degen went over 131 mph, Karlee was over 150 mph, and Erika and Michelle were both close to 140 mph! Way to go Team Klock Werks!
The Klock Werks Race team is extremely busy and focused as they battle the "Great White Dyno" today. Making passes and getting right back in line for return passes.
No big updates fon records for today...YET! But several photos - so I thought that I would share some of those to give you an idea of what a magnificent place the Bonneville Salt Flats is. The first two pictures are from early this morning when BUB invited all the racers to be on grounds an hour early with vehicles to help pack the courses. First time ever!
Stay tuned for more updates!!
Day Two at the Bonneville Salt Flats - Delayed Start But Records Still Broken
The Krew had a delayed start to racing yesterday because of rain...but they made up for the lost time once they were able to get on the course. Below are some photos from yesterday and an update from Laura Klock. She is wearing the hat of a racer and the hat of a mother...what huge responsibilities and an awesome perspective.
FROM LAURA: Wow what a day. We were up and ready to go at sunrise, only to find out that it had rained enough the night before and racing was postponed. Check back at 10 am. So the krew headed to the salt flats cafe, had breakfast and strategized of course.
One quick team photo before we hit the course!
At 11:30 a.m. we were told they were going to check the track around 3, and then it started raining again. This is our 5th year out here and I've never experienced rain out on the salt. Interesting!
Laura on her Victory Vision - increased her record from last year already!
The sun came out though and it got hot quick, so we were ALL in line ready to roll before 3!Wow can you see Team Klock Werks coming when we roll up...6 bikes. Gives you goosebumps! They kept us together the best they could so one after the other we had successfull passes, so successful that 5 of us did returns right after!
Klock Werks Race team bikes...definitely make a statement of unity!
Records went down!! Erika, karlee, michelle, and chris each has SO FAR taken the records in their classes, and I was able to increase the speed on the Victory Vision enough to up mine! This could change of course as more people run, but right now we are headed out again to start day 3. Its COLD this morning but will warm up quick.
Chris - lookin good in his leathers!
So I gotta go race!
More to come...both of our daughters went faster than mom yesterday!! Personal bests for each of them. Pretty cool for me, that's for sure!!
Karlee doing some last minute mental preparation...or some shut eye while she waits in line??
Day One at the Bonneville Salt Flats
Update from our Krew on the Salt -
The krew arrived safely to the hotel in Wendover Utah about 2 a.m. on Sunday morning ... Slept for a few hours, and were up and at 'em ready to get the pit area setup, get the bikes inspected and all the technical things out of the way so they could race!
They report that the salt is in excellent condition and while it was pretty windy in the early hours Sunday a.m., the wind died down and it was a nice day. Everyone passed tech inspection, so Michelle, Tiadra, Chris, Erika and Karlee got in line about 1 p.m. They were each able to make 1 pass today, and all report very successful shakedown runs. A couple of them are riding for the first time (Tiadra and Chris) and others on new bikes (Karlee)..so they used
the first pass of the trip to make sure everything was working great.
Laura hasn't run yet because she is working on a fun project with Bushtec trailers...watch for more on this! BUT Tex of TexEfx and his wife Melissa flew to salt lake and met the krew on the salt to get the Bushtec trailer pinstriped to match Laura's victory vision. Pin striping live and a motorcycle trailer are both things that you don't really see out on the salt, so it drew some attention. Laura reports that she enjoyed watching her daughters and the rest
of KW krew do a pass and will be ready to take her first run right away tomorrow.
The krew also reports feeling very blessed by the help of our sponsors...the pit area looks GREAT thanks to Interstate batteries and if you stop by to see them they have Shogun energy drink to share with you too!
The new paint on 5 of the bikes made quite an impression!
"It was great to see friends from the salt that we get to see here once a year, and we met some great new friends today also", reports Brian. "I couldn't be more proud of our krew. The team back home taking care of business and the team out here representing Klock Werks and our sponsors ina professional manner. They're also having fun, which is good to see. "
"What a way to start out on Monday morning? Watching the sun rise on the bonneville salt flats and preparing to go as fast as we can!" Laura shared this sunday night while heading to bed. The alarm is going to go off early monday and the team is ready to race!
More to come....Laura Klock
FROM BRIAN -
Day one and I am humbled and so proud. I am blessed and amazed and overwhelmingly filled with a pride that comes from camaraderie, family, and the many successes of Team Klock Werks and our talented crew.
A few customers pulled up on baggers this morning, one of them was rockin an 8.5" Flare on his batwing, cool in its own way. I watched as so many friends stopped by to say "good morning" to the Klock Werks girls. I ran into Jeff Koons and his wife Tonjia at tech inspection. Jeff and I met in Daytona 2008 at the Nascar 500 race, again over the same Flare windshield born right here at Bonneville. He works for Joe
Gibbs Racing, another much more famous team blessed by the sponsorship of Norm Miller and the team at Interstate Batteries.
Our own Vic Briggs, enjoying his first day ever on the Salt, asked me this morning what day my anniversary was as Laura blessed me with a family and two beautiful daughters by taking my hand in marriage on September 2nd, 2007 right here on this legendary natural wonder and race track to the world.
Meanwhile Noah Ahrens, another fellow employee and first timer to the Salt commented "This is one of the coolest and wildest places I have ever been", I smiled and assured him I get that.
We later ran into the same fellows on the morning baggers, and they were from Pittsburgh. They shared that they had stopped at the shop in Mitchell and Makel took 20 minutes to show them around, they were impressed, I was Proud - again.
Our bikes in their official new team colors looked amazing thanks to Brad Smith's efforts. The Shogun was on ice, Pirelli's coated with Salt and smiles all around the team. I think you can see the trend here. We looked fun in our green Interstate hats and black Klock Werks Logo T's. All of our sponsors have been so amazing!!
From 13-year-old Tiadra and Chris Degen making their first passes, Karlee piloting a bike transformed in 6 days and powered by a ProCharger, to Erika and Michelle on a Buell and a Yamaha Warrior with fresh looks they all made a safe and intial pass, bugs and butterflies are done ready for tomorrow. Dave Sietsma is knocking the trigger off his camera and documenting yet another historic outing overseen by the faithful leadership of Randy Rothlisberger, Dan
Cheeseman, and Joe Mielke. Sense any pride there...
We have Laura's new Bushtec Entourage trailer here and the infamous Tex of TexEfx and his beautiful wife Melissa have joined us to match the incredible pinstriping he laid down on Laura's Vision during Sturgis two weeks ago to the new tow toy! Quite a site to see raw talent live being laid down on her custom personal Victory.
Laura met salt legend, Warner Riley. We are pitted next to Roger Goldammer, renowned custom bike builder and friend, ran into Jeff Decker of Hippodrome Studios and some of his rare collectibles being photograped by our friend Horst Rosler of Germany. Friendly faces like Ronnie Schmitz from Minneapolis, Drew Gatewood, photographer Scooter Grub, AMA Ken, Santa Claus Tom Anderson of Buell Brothers, Oliver Shokuh of Glendale HD,Jay Allen from the Broken Spoke,
the NHRS team, Tman Reiser and his 215 HP 98 Inch bagger, Darin from MTI and his kids, all the faithful volunteers, the guys from Prescott, some new friends from Canada, sensing family, friends, any pride and all this from just day one!!
I sign this tonight as a man who has been blessed with a family, an amazing staff and team whom I love like family, and someone who has been given a chance to give back to the motorcycle industry with the Flare windshield product line, yes I am humbled and proud. Thanks be to God and all of you. Its another great day...Brian Klock
Today, Monday, August 30, the Krew reported that the salt is closed this morning because of the rain last night. Stay tuned for updates from Day two on the Salt!!

Klock Werks Race Team: where passion and fuel mix!
DYNA-MITE?!
Introducing Karlee's NEW Bonneville bike which she will be racing in the Modified Pushrod Blown Gas class at the Bonneville Salt Flats. After a summer of preparing to ride for another race team, Karlee got the call the bike wasn't coming to the Salt. The next call was to Terry Rymer of Black Hills Harley Davidson to source a used Dyna. While it is not exactly Karlee's idea of "style", she is quickly converting it to a street racer with the help of her
sponsors, the Drag Specialties Fatbook, and the Klock Werks team of skilled mechanics. Now it is down to the bare bones...but fresh paint from Smitty's is on the way!
Randy Rothlisberger works with Karlee on the pistons for project Dyna-Mite!

BACK FROM STURGIS...NO TIME FOR REST
The Klock Werks truck and Krew all made it back home after the 70th Anniversary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. What an event it was!! Attendance was up, people were wanting to improve the performance and look of their bike, and the Klock Werks truck was like a busy bee hive. Many people rode right up to the truck and knew exactly what they wanted! Many others took the time to try one or two different sizes of the FLARE Windshield just to make sure they got the
right size for them! We had lots of questions about the NEW Billboard FLARE Windshield. People are exicted about what is going on with Klock Werks and we are so happy that we have such amazing customers.

Backorders are not fun for anyone, and Team Klock Werks has taken the situation VERY seriously. So serious, in fact, that we sent a friend’s semi-truck to the manufacturer ourselves in order to get what inventory we could 2 days sooner than it would have shipped to us. Saturday morning at 7 AM, the truck arrived at the shop, and many of the krew were here to unload and start processing back orders. If you were waiting for 8.5″ DARK SMOKE, 6.5″ DARK SMOKE, 6.5″ BLACK, 8″
BLACK, 3.5″ BLACK, or 12″ CLEAR…your order was processed this morning and will ship on Monday! That’s GREAT news for all of us and we can’t thank you enough for your patience. There are a few products still waiting, but rest assured that it’s worth the wait, and that we are doing everything we can to get them to you as soon as possible. The best news is that you will finally get your windshield…and we still have some in stock to sell. Tell your friends!
AND…We are PAINTING! Believe it or not, after the second storm that damaged our building just last week, the krew kicked it into high gear, sheet rocked, taped, sanded, textured and are already PAINTING this afternoon! We have a party to get ready for! So please stop by. We are making the most of this mess and the shop is going to be better than ever when we are all finished. We invite you to check it out on Thursday, August 5th, at Klock Werks’ Annual Pre-Sturgis Party.
This year will be a Tribute to Donnie Smith for his friendship for the last 20 years - and answering all of Brian’s questions. We hope to have some of his best projects on display as well as a bike that he worked on with Brian 20 years ago. Food and refreshments will begin at 6 p.m. - but stop in when you get to town.
If you are in need of hotel accommodations, call Hampton Inn 605.996.1575, Best Western 605.996.5536 or Coachlight 605.996.5686 - and let them know you are in town for the Klock Werks Pre-Sturgis Party !
Klock Werks at Sturgis! The Klock Werks truck will be set up at Black Hills Harley Davidson (2820 Harley Drive, Rapid City, SD) and we will also have a krew at J&P Cycles (1650 Lazelle, Sturgis, SD). The motorcycle traffic is picking up on I-90 in both directions - east and west. Some head to Sturgis weeks before the Motorcycle rally to avoid the crowds and traffic, and seem to be heading home about this time. Others head to Sturgis to be there for the entirety of the Rally, and are just getting ready to pack up. Whichever way you are heading, stop in to visit the shop, see Sturgis project bikes in the werks, check out the newly sheetrocked walls in the
showroom, and of course, visit the WORLD’S ONLY Corn Palace!
Don’t forget about the Klock Werks Pre-Sturgis Open House on August 5th! This year will be aTribute to Donnie Smith for his friendship for the last 20 years - and answering all of Brian’s questions. This is such a busy time of year normally for our Krew - but this year we have the addition of water damage clean up to add to the normal chaos of Sturgis preparation! But that has not stopped work from getting done at the shop. Here is a glimpse of what is going on at Klock Werks:
We have an amazing Krew on water damage clean-up and repair. It is awesome to see the showroom and offices come back together! Floor is already painted and sheetrock is going back up!
Phones are still ringing and our sales team is doing their best to answer every phone call from a makeshift call center. Customer service is a priority…no matter what!
AND…tons of fenders came in TODAY!!!
Stuff is definitely happening at Klock Werks. Thanks to our customers, friends and family for your continued thoughts, prayers, support, encouragement, and patience!

It is that time of year when the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is just days away - and it gets a little crazy around here. Bike projects need to get out to paint, customers want service work done so their bike is running great, the Long Black Train needs to be loaded to head out west, tourists are stopping in to see what is going on, oh yah - and we are still trying to get our showroom and shop repaired from the TWO floods we had this summer! Wow - I think it is fair
to say that the next couple of weeks will go by quickly and Sturgis will be here before you know it.
But before the Sturgis Rally can begin, Klock Werks Pre-Sturgis Open House has to take place. Put August 5th on your calendar! This year will be a Tribute to Donnie Smith for his friendship for the last 20 years - and answering all of Brian’s questions. We hope to have some of his best projects on display as well as a bike that he worked on with Brian - 20 years ago. Food and refreshments will begin at 6

Brian and Laura’s Eternal Combustion bike projects are coming along. Laura’s “Memphis Chopper” is off for paint, engraving and some final details. Here is a sneak peak of some of the amazing engraving on the air cleaner and headlight done by Heather New of New Line Engraving (www.new-lineengraving.com).
Brian’s project “Kwik Silver” is getting the final work and fabrication done by the Klock Werks Design Team and then off to paint.
And about that water damage repair work…well, the showroom is first on the repair list. Check out the below photos to get a feel of what is going on -

Since this was the second flood of the Summer of 2010 - the Klock Werks Krew was able to get the clean-up done in no time and there was absolutely no break in our customer service. Yesterday, we were able to have some of our krew on the phones and processing internet orders with no delay.
We still have some repairs to be done and floors to be covered - but our design team is focused back on the Sturgis projects, service department is fixing customers bikes and getting them out the door, sales team is answering the phones and replying to internet inquiries, warehouse is back in order and ready to ship out, and all other krew members are at their desks and back on target!
Thanks for all the notes, Facebook comments, emails, calls, thoughts and prayers. We appreciate you all bearing with our mess and sticking with us!
Sturgis is right around the corner and we are extremely excited to debut Laura and Brian’s Eternal Combustion bikes soon! We will be set up at Black Hills Harley Davidson and J&P Cycles (Sturgis) this year. Stop by, say hi, check out some NEW KlocK Werks parts and, if you are not rockin’ the FLARE, try one out in our TRY it before you BUY if FREE demo ride!

NEWSFLASH - The Mitchell community and surrounding area received over 4 inches of rain in about one hour in the early evening of Wednesday, July 21, and Klock Werks experienced extensive flooding AGAIN. It was a similar sight to the early morning hours of June 11 when Mitchell also received 4 inches of rain and the Klock Werks had 5 inches of water throughout the shop.
Because this is the second time this has happened - our flood clean-up and emergency plan is in place and ahead of schedule. We will be answering phones and processing all internet orders as normal. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Weekend Events Success and Focus Turns to Sturgis
Posted 20.07 by Brian
The weekend was a complete success and between Klock Werks Horsepower and Hot Dogs event on Saturday and the Helping with Horsepower Charity Ride on Sunday, the Krew raised enough money for the First Circuit CASA to train 10 volunteers who could potentially serve the 22 kids that are a waiting list. These events also educated people about the CASA program and raised awareness of what a great program it is for the kids involved. If you are interested in
volunteering for CASA or would like to know more about the program, please contact Brenda Schulte at or go towww.sdcasa.org/aboutus.htm.
During the Dyno Shootout on Saturday, Chris Degen and JP ran about 18 bikes on the Dyno. Many people were pleasantly pleased with their results, and others wanted to know what they needed to do to get more power out of their bike. Several people came just to watch and see what was going on.
About 70 bikes and cars showed up for the Charity Ride on Sunday. It was absolutely beautiful weather! The ride ended at the Moose Lodge in Mitchell for a BBQ supper provided by one of the CASA board members. The winner of the Murga Boots Raffle was drawn and the winner is…Jason Jennings of Mitchell! Jason will get a pair of Tony Murga (www.murgaboots.com) custom boots and a
matching belt.
The weekend was busy…but busy with amazing people and amazing events that were benefiting a great cause in CASA. The Stampede Rodeo was also taking place all weekend and many of our krew attended the various performances. In the picture below is Laura with Cassidy Potter. Cassidy was a part of one of the acts during the rodeo performances. She is quite a spitfire and has a huge heart and passion for horses.
Oh, and by the way, the Klock Werks-Sweet Shoppe Team took SECOND PLACE in the Stampede Chili Cook-off! Hats off to John, Dan and Joe for getting up early and making close to 20 gallons of chili!
Sturgis is quickly creeping up on the calendar. Before you know it, our truck will be heading west. We will be set up at Black Hills Harley Davidson and J&P Cycles in Sturgis. If you are in the area, please stop by our truck, say hi, and check out some NEW Klock Werks products. We will be offering our FREE TRY it before you BUY it DEMO Rides and FREE FLARE Windshield installations!
Brian and Laura are both building bikes for Michael Lichter’s Eternal Combustion Bike Exhibit. Stay tuned to our “In the Werks” section under the bikes page on www.kustombaggers.com for a sneak peak of what the bikes look like.
Put August 5th on your calendar to attend the Klock Werks Pre-Sturgis Open House. This year will be a tribute to Donnie Smith and the 20 year friendship that he has had with Brian.

Laura and two of her dear friends, Athena Ransom of Vagabond Choppers (http://vagabondchickie.com/) and Cris Sommer-Simmons (http://www.theamericanmotorcyclegirls.blogspot.com/), left Sunday, July 4 on bikes for the
Annual Motor Maid Convention in Cody, Wyoming. Motor Maids (http://www.motormaids.org/) is the first and oldest continuously operated women’s motorcycling operation. Laura just joined last year and her sponsor was Athena.
Laura reported that it is a little cool in Cody but she is having an amazing time in fellowship with her fellow Motor Maid friends and taking advantage of the time she has with some of the lifetime members learning about the history of the organization. They will return back to South Dakota on Friday.
Here is a photo of Athena, Cris and Laura in their parade uniform.

Back Up and Running
Posted 17.06 by Brian
It has been almost 1 week since there was water throughout the entire Klock Werks shop. It is amazing how much work can get done in 1 week when theentire team is focused on the same common goals - getting the mess cleaned up and doing whatever necessary to get the shop up and running again. There are definitely going to be some repairs that will take time but for the most part, we are able to do our work as we were before. There has been some moving of offices and equipment, but
with the team we have working here - this was a piece of cake. I am so proud to be a part of this team and what has been accomplished in the past week.
Below are more pictures of the clean up and on-going repairs. Thanks for the prayers and thoughts - please continue these!
