On the Road Again for Some Fall Events

The Fall season is one of my favorites.  The colors are changing, weather has cooled and comfy hoodies and long sleeves are necessary!!  The krew has had a little time to breath since returning from the Salt Flats - but it is time to hit the road again!

Final Report from the Salt Flats

The Bub Speed Trials Event at the Bonneville Salt Flats has come to an end.  As I type, the krew is on the road heading home.  Here is our final report from the Krew -

Laura reached a top speed of 122 on the stock 2008 Victory Vision.  She reports it is an amazingly stable ride - not too bad for a bike she rides on the street that she just purchased last week!

Erika destroyed the existing record of 109 in her class with a top speed of 127 mph and taking the record on her Buell XB9 Firebolt.

Karlee reached a new personal best of 115 mph on the 500 cc Buell Blast, and faced some competition this year.  It was a blast shootout and the 15-year-old grew immensely as a rider and racer.

Michelle stayed consistently in the 142s with a new personal best of 144 and took the record on the Yamaha Warrior!

And the WFB Traveling Cup shootout…more to come but it was amazing.

Thanks to our sponsors for a great week of racing…and to our entire team including the krew on the salt, team back at the shop, family and friends all over the U.S.  You are all an intrical part of this team and without each part, this team does not work!

Day Four Report and On to the Last Day of Racing

Krew is on the salt today for the final day of racing.  So, everyone is trying to get their last runs in and make any last minute tweaking to result in the faster speeds.  Tonight, they will attend the awards banquet and the WFB Traveling Cup will be presented for the first time.  Exciting stuff…

Here are some pictures to share from day three and four…

Kiwi and Caroline enjoying a stroll down the salt…

Laura on her 2008 Victory Vision (top speed - 122 mph)

Something is in the werks here…

Another meeting of the minds…

The Krew back here at the shop has continued to give the WFB daily comfort.  He feels like he has been left behind this year.  Any ideas?? Played Twister and Dominoes yesterday.

Godspeed to the Krew on the Salt and safe travels tomorrow on your route home!

Day Three Reports Record-Breaking Speeds on the Salt

Word is that the salt is drying up, the speeds are increasing and the records are falling.  The Krew from Klock Werks is united (from South Dakota to Utah) and on the move!!  After two days of racing, our master-mind pit crew went to work…they needed to work out some kinks, tweak a few things and get those ladies down the course a little quicker.  Not only did they come up with some great ideas and options…but their ideas were proven on the salt with the results of higher speeds.  Nice work to Brian, Dan, Randy, Joe, and Chris…our cabaña boys, I mean pit Krew!!

Report from Cowboy was the following:  Laura had a top speed of 122 on her Victory Vision and backed that up with a return of 120.  Erika ran 127 for her fastest speed and Karlee topped off at 113.  Michelle set a record of 143 with a personal best of 144.

Brian reported that a picture was taken at the end of the day yesterday on the Salt of the all the ladies racing.  The picture included 19 ladies (of which was our ladies - Laura, Erika, Karlee and Michelle - and also Erin Hunter, Leslie Porterfield and many others)…at this Bub event in 2005, there were 4 ladies.  It is amazing to think of how this number has grown.  I am so proud of all the ladies on the salt to have the courage to be a part of an event where ladies were few and far between in the beginning.  We are all especially proud of our ladies and know that they have inspired many others to join and experience the salt and all it has to offer.

So, the Krew is on the salt already this morning for day four.  I am sure that some of the fatigue of this long week in the heat and sun might be setting in.  But don’t think for a moment that the Krew from Klock Werks is done at the Salt Flats.  Always more work to be done…

Godspeed to you all…those of us back at the shop are proud of all you have accomplished and are proud to be a part of this team!  We offer daily comfort to the WFB as he is really struggling with being left behind.  Please come home soon…

Thanks for our sponsors…Z1R Helmets, Alpine Star, Bel-Ray, Interstate Batteries, DEI, S&S, Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited.  Without you - this is not possible…

Day Two Report from the Salt

Day two on the salt is complete and here is the report from the Krew…

Engine failures, accidents, debris on the course, and high winds caused slow moving lines at the Salt today.  All members of Klock Werks race team got on the course today - but not a lot of runs.  Everyone improved with higher speeds than the previous day and were set to be some of the first on the course for Day Three.

Laura was able to make her first pass of the week, and was in line for another pass when the day was called because of high winds.  She will be one of the first to go off this morning.

Erika improved her speed and was close to the 130 mph mark.  She set a record of 122 which wiped out the previous record of 109 mph - so she is definitely on track to possibly up that record again.

Karlee continues to make safe passes on the Blast and head right back to get in line.  She is racing with focus on  getting the speed she needs to up the record in her class.  Randy is working with her and the Blast, and has some ideas to get her down the course a little faster to try out today.

Michelle also improved her speed from the previous day.  Her fastest pass was 140.021 mph.  Big Joe has some ideas for her Yamaha to get her down the course a little faster…see how today goes!  Michelle was also in line for a pass when the day was called because of high winds - so she will be out early this morning.

Ross and his Kiwi Indian Bobber continue to make clean passes…he is very close to triple digits.

James Ramsey from Zippers Performance is with our Krew on the salt and had a problem Sunday which prevented him from running yesterday. However parts he needed have been shipped out and he should have them today to get his V-Rod down the course as well.

Joe reported that the salt had dried up…so if the winds stay down, there should be some solid runs in today.

News from the Salt (August 31, 2009)

Even though the salt is said to be a little “greasy” - records are being chased and broken on the Bonneville Salt Flats this week!!

Here is an update from our team - Laura Klock had some work in tech that needed to be cleared on her stock 07 Victory Vision (PP-2000 Class)…she was scheduled to race today.  15-year-old Karlee Cobb is riding the Buell Blast again this year and will be chasing her record of 107.391 set last year (MPS-PG 500).  18-year-old Erika Cobb is riding a Buell XB9 (class P-PG 1000) and was racing in the 120s already today.  Michelle Mielke had her fastest pass yesterday of 138.390 on an 02 Yamaha Road Warrior, and is chasing 140 today.

Another part of our Klock-Kiwi team, Ross Tomas, also raced yesterday and had a fastest pass of 95.775 on his Kiwi Indian Bobber (47 engine on 38 frame).  I know that he was set for higher numbers today!

The Chase for the WFB Traveling Cup includes T.R. Reiser of T-Man Performance, Kevin Edgmon of High Country Harley Davidson and Pro Stock Drag Racer Chris Rivas.  Rob Hassey crashed yesterday but word is that he is okay.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rob and his family.

Godspeed to our family on the Salt Flats.  Proud to be a part of this team which includes all the girls racing, pit crews, family support (all over), krew back at the shop (shown in the picture with the WFB - a little sad because he was left behind) and the big man upstairs!

Stay tuned for more news…

Keeping Up with the Klock Werks Krew on the Salt

The Klock Werks krew made it to the Bonneville Salt Flats over the weekend for another week of racing, teamwork, camaraderie, and overcoming unforeseen challenges.  Laura, Erika, Karlee and Michelle are geared up and ready to make some record-breaking runs on the Salt.  In order to keep on track with our team, check out live reports from the Salt by Big Joe at http://klockiwi.blogspot.com/.  You can also keep up with our Krew via www.cyrilhuzeblog.com.  Cyril is on the Salt and submitting daily entries to his blog.

So, keep checking back for news from the Salt!!

ProCharger is Latest Addition to Sponsor List for WFB Traveling Cup

As the Bub Speed Trials event kicks off Sunday, the competition for the World’s Fastest Bagger Traveling Cup is heating up and other sponsors are jumping on board.  The winner of the WFB Traveling Cup will receive product from Klock Werks, S&S, and now, ProCharger.  ProCharger is the industry leader in forced induction and proud to sponsor this show of power on the legendary “great white dyno” of the Bonneville Salt Flats.

We are excited to know that Pro Stock Drag Racer Chris Rivas will be on his S&S power 136 ci Road Glide,  the legendary T.R. Reiser of T-Man Performance is scheduled to bring a pro-charged 98 ci bike and Rob Hassey of RacePro Inc. will be riding Greg Daniels Road King from the Vegas area.

We are looking forward to this event and the shoot-out for the World’s Fastest Bagger Traveling Cup.  Klock Werks will be sending out updates from the Salt Flats and keep Bikernet abreast with all the latest!

Rocky Mountains (elevation 10,000+) to the Bonneville Salt Flats

Laura and Melissa survived the 1700-mile round trip trek to Colorado, the high elevation and symptoms experienced because of that, and the high South Dakota winds to attend the AMA Women and Motorcycling Conference in Keystone, Colorado.  At this conference, they attended seminars, demoed 2010 Harleys and enjoyed fellowship with other women in the motorcycle industry like Genevieve Schmitt, Athena “Chickie” Ransom (shown in picture below with Laura and Melissa), Erin Hunter, Cristine Sommer Simmons, Leslie Porterfield, Karen Davidson, Diva Amy, Leslie Prevish and many more.  It was an amazing experience for both and many accomplishments were made.  For Melissa, this was her first big ride and something she would have never dreamed about after just passing her MSF course in JUNE!!  Also, Laura became a member of the Motor Maids…they are the first and oldest women’s riding organization.

But now the focus changes to racing…on to the Bonneville Salt Flats.  We have four ladies racing again - Laura, Erika, Karlee and Michelle - on a mission to have succesful passes and maybe even set more records!  The Krew will head out to Utah on Friday and racing begins on Sunday.  Stay tuned to this blog for updates from the krew.

Just a reminder - enjoy God’s amazing creation wherever you are.  You don’t have to go the Bonneville Salt Flats or the Rocky Mountains to see the wonderous work of God’s hands (even though the Mountains are absolutely breathtaking - literally).  There is beauty - natural beauty - all around you.  You just have to take the time to look.

Latest Art by Stefanie - “Focus”

“FOCUS” is the latest in a series of prints and Originals from Stefanie Aziere-Sattler dedicated to Land Speed Racing. Stefanie was recently featured as the official artist for the S&S 50th Anniversary Celebration, where she was intrigued by the allure of the salt.

Ask a 14 year old to focus, and they may look at you like you have 3 eyes. Put a 14 year old on a motorcycle and tell her to go as fast as she can, and you will see focus happen naturally, without any instruction. Karlee Cobb (now 15 years old, Mitchell, South Dakota) became the youngest to ever set a record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2008, setting 2 land speed records on her Buell Blast, at the age of 14. This painting shows her FOCUS and fierce determination as she heads out to make a pass. Karlee, her sister Erika, and mom Laura Klock are the first mother, daughter, daughter trio in the history of Land Speed Racing to hold records at the same time. If this girl stays focused, who knows what we will see her do next!

The Original is in Oil. Giclee Prints are available in a Limited Edition run of 50 pieces. All numbered and signed by the artist. Two sizes are available: 20×30 for $250.00, and 15×25 for $150.00 both sizes are available on canvas or art paper.
