Home Sweet Home…for a little while

Back from Laughlin with the truck and happy to be home again…at least for a little while.  Laughlin was a great show for the Klock Werks Krew and we have added many more happy “Rockin’ the FLARE” customers!  Send us your Rockin’ the FLARE photos so we can show them off on our website!!

The truck will stay home for a while now.  We do have some other events in the next month but they are events close to home.  We will be a part of Tyler’s Mobil Fun Day at Grahams Mobil (Mitchell, SD) on Saturday, May 9, along with the Mobil NASCAR Simulator.

Next up is the Memorial Weekend in Mitchell Event, May 22-24.  This weekend includes a Friday night get together at the Klock Werks shop, Dive Bar Poker Run on Saturday, kids carnival on Main Street, golf tournament on Sunday and many other activities.  Check out this website for the event schedule http://www.cornpalace.org/newpages/memorial.html.

Klock Werks will not be making the trip south for the Myrtle Beach Bike Week (May 8-17) but the following dealerships will be stocking the FLARE Windshield: Beach Customs (11794 Highway 90, Little River, SC) and RS Cycles (11808 Highway 17 Bypass, Murrells Inlet, SC).

May is Womens Rider Month.  As a part of that, Harley Davidson has featured stories of women riders titled “Inspired to Ride”.  Laura Klock and her two daughters, Erika and Karlee, are all individually featured.  Click on the website below to browse the riders’ stories.  http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/women_riders/landing.jsp?locale=en_US

Laura Klock will be the featured speaker at two upcoming Ladies Only Garage Parties.  First she will be appearing at Latus Harley Davidson (http://www.latus-hd.com/) on May 12 and then on to Black Hills Harley Davidson (http://www.blackhillshd.com/) on May 19.  If you are in the area of those dealerships, stop in and say hi.  LADIES - if you are able to attend these events, we encourage you to.  The Ladies Only Garage Parties are great events for ladies who want to learn more about their bike, riding, being a passenger, apparel and lots of other “Ladies Only” info!!

Happy Easter, the Softail Story and Grown Men in Blue Tank-Tops

Happy Easter to you all!  Hope you are getting some nice springtime riding weather!  I love this time of year for so many reasons.  You can enjoy a good book on the porch in the evening because of the extended daylight; watch a majestic thunderstorm roll in and offer a light show that cannot be duplicated; pack up the snow pants, boots and heavy coats (although, there is always the chance of a late April snow here in the midwest…so we can’t get too over-zealous!); and of course, enjoy some of the best riding weather (not too hot, not too cold)!

Check out the story about Laura’s ‘91 Softail (page 34) - Motorcycle Metaphor…For a Rider’s Life - in Iron Works, May/June 2009.  Thanks to Marilyn Stemp for beautifully portraying this story…you have an amazing way with words!  While you are in Iron Works, read Brian’s latest column about colors on page 16.

Thanks to Dave Withrow for Rockin’ the FLARE on the cover of American Bagger, May 2009.  Also thanks to Tom Chapman (owner of “Just a Rider” featured on page 82) and Allan De Shon (owner of “Martini” featured on page 92) for Rockin’ the Flare!  We so appreciate all of our customers and love to see your rides featured in magazines.

Now for some pure entertainment…pick up a copy of Cycle Source, May 2009.  Immediately turn to page 46 for the “Wicked Big Losers” Challenge update.  On page 49, you will notice three of the Klock Werks krew that have thrown their names in for the challenge.  John Dean, Joe Mielke and Dave Sietsema have signed up to lose some weight, get healthy and be the Wicked Biggest Loser!!  Stay tuned for updates on how these guys are doing and how much weight they are dropping!!  Good luck guys and we will try to keep the baked goodies and sweets out of the shop!

When you are on our website, please browse around and check out all of the photo gallaries!  We have had many customers send in photos of their rides after a makeover or with our FLARE windshield.  They are posted in the Fan Bike section under the Bike tab.  Continue to send in pictures of your ride Rockin’ the FLARE or with Klock Werks parts!

Have a great weekend and blessed Easter!

Introducing the Latest Stefanie Aziere-Sattler Painting - “Sister Speed”

The Place - Bonneville Speed Trials on the Bonneville Salts Flats, Wendover, Utah. The Participants - Racers from all over the world that come to test their skills and machines to set land speed records each year in September.
