On the Road Again

Some people would think that our travel schedule should slow down once we are home from Sturgis – but those of you that really know the motorcycle industry know that there is one more big event this year – Harley Davidson’s 105th celebration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 27-31. This is definitely not an event that the Klock Werks Krew will miss. We will be set up at Hal’s Harley Davidson doing our normal FREE installs and DEMO rides of our Flare Windshields. If you have not tried the windshield – you are missing out. Come see us, try a demo, and let the windshield sell itself!

Our very own Laura Klock will be participating in the Women’s Day Reunion Bash on August 29. http://www.womenridersnow.com/PublicFiles/DepartmentViewer.asp?ArticleID=996
Also make sure to check out Laura and the rest of the XX Chromes team, including Sara Liberte, Jody Perewitz and Gina Woods, doing an All Women bike build on Saturday and Sunday, August 30-31. The girls will be set up for the build at Hal’s Harley Davidson beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

After the 105th, Klock Werks travel is not quite done…we are heading to Bonneville to set more land speed records on the salt flats. This year, Laura will be piloting the WFB and shooting for a personal best of 150 mph. Her oldest daughter, Erika, will be back again but will be riding a Buell S2. And the youngest daughter, Karlee, will be riding the Buell Blast and looking to better her older sister’s 2007 record. Although the trip to the salt flats the last two years has been amazing and extremely memorable – this trip has a little more feeling to it. Laura’s dad was in a motorcycle accident during Sturgis and had to have his foot amputated on Thursday at Mayo. Laura and her girls are dedicating their rides and hopeful new records to Laura’s dad and the girls’ grandpa. The team is looking forward to the camaraderie and challenge of the “Great White Dyno”!

Where are you Rockin’ the Flare?? Mt. Rushmore, Niagra Falls, Grand Canyon, or Washinton, D.C.?? Send us your favorite Rockin’ the Flare photos!

Sturgis Numbers

We are back from Sturgis and have the truck unpacked. Wow – what an event! For Klock Werks, Sturgis was not an event that we went into worried about numbers being down or if we would be busy. It was an event that gave us the chance to be face to face with some of our best customers and the chance to meet new customers. It gave us the chance to be in the same room as many of our idols and people in the industry that we look up to and aspire to be like.

Sturgis 2008 was full of amazing rides in the beautiful Black Hills, participating in the Builders Breakfast, attending the Hall of Fame breakfast that Brian emceed and placing 2nd to Bling’s Cycles Bill Dodge by defeating an air-shifted drag bike at the Baker Drivetrain Burn-out Fest at the Buffalo Chip. Our S&S X-Wedge held up to a burnt out clutch and Brian’s hand shifting mayhem. Keep an eye on Michael Litcher’s website (http://www.lichterphoto.com) or email Scout@bakerdrivetrain.com for photos.

So, where does this take us? After winding down from Sturgis, the Klock Werks Krew now turns our focus to preparation of three bikes for Bonneville. Laura and both her daughters will be riding at the Salt Flats this year. Laura is going for 150 mph (a personal goal!) on the WFB, Erika (17 years old) will be riding the Buell S2 and Karlee (14 years old) will be taking over the Buell Blast that Erika rode last year and going after her older sister’s land speed record.

But before Bonneville, Klock Werks will be participating in the Harley Davidson 105th celebration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 29-31. We will be set up at Hal’s Harley Davidson and look forward to seeing you there. Make sure to look Laura up on August 29 for the Women’s Day – Reunion Bash. http://www.womenridersnow.com/PublicFiles/DepartmentViewer.asp?ArticleID=996

Send us your favorite rally photos of your bikes…especially if you are Rockin’ the Flare!

Having grown up in the Black Hills area and attending many Sturgis rallies for “fun”, this was my first “working” at the Sturgis Rally experience. It was an amazing and eye-opening experience for many reasons. Just being able to see the Rally from the back-door makes me appreciate the people involved with the motorcycle industry even more. This event gave me a chance to spend time away from our shop with my co-workers, meet customers that I have spoke with over the phone or emailed with, mingle with some of the “big names” of the industry and see a side of the industry that can be seen as art. What an amazing experience…
