Sturgis is almost here…

As we gear up for Sturgis, we have some events that you will NOT want to miss that come along with all the excitement leading up to Sturgis.

JULY 31st - You are all invited to the 3rd Annual Pre-Sturgis Party at the Klock Werks shop in Mitchell! Food and refreshments will begin at 6 p.m.

Second, Klock Werks would like to announce the debute of the FINE ART GLIDE.
Artist, Mark Brodie, and Brian Klock of Klock Werks have teamed up to create the FINE ART GLIDE which will be unveiled at the Top 50 Park during the 2008 Sturgis Bike Rally. An original painting that inspired the bikes graphics by Mark Brodie will also be debuted at the event.

“The “Fine Art Glide” is based on a 2007 Street Glide that received a makeover using parts from the new Klock Werks product line available at www.Kustombaggers.com or through any Drag Specialties dealer. Mark and I felt there would be a great synergy between the high quality of this artwork and our kustom parts. This is the first in what I hope will be a series of graphic design expressions between Brodie and the Klock Werks design team,” stated Brian Klock. “Many people treasure their art and their bike, why not have an original of both, you deserve it!”

Mark Brodie is a self-taught artist whose passion is pinstriping and automotive art. Brodie’s art has been featured in many magazines, and his paintings have been displayed in restaurants and furniture stores all over the country. He has done work for the late Dale Earnhardt, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace and Mike Helton, president of NASCAR.

The Fine Art Glide will feature the new Klock Werks “Double Back” 2 into 1 exhaust system, Benchmark front fender, Fillers, Stretched tank, Dash and more. The Graphics were inspired by an original that Mark painted during the process of creating the bike. For your own design and more information, go to www.markbrodieinc.com.

Mark Brodie will be striping at the Klock Werks Truck in the Top 50 Park during the Sturgis Bike Rally. Stop by to meet Mark Brodie and the Klock Werks Krew and take a look at the FINE ART GLIDE! The Top 50 Park is Exit 47 off I-90.

Boat Racing, Metalworking and more

The Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge and Sturdevant’s Auto Parts “Shine on the River Car/Bike Show” was a great event. Even though the wonderful “South Dakota wind” shortened the race day on Saturday – people showed back up on Sunday wanting to watch the speed on the river and see Laura with the WFB.

Two important items of news that we want to get out to you all -

First, it is very exciting that we at Klock Werks have the opportunity to host a Ron Covell Creative Metalworking Workshop (www.covell.biz) in 2009. If you are interested in attending a Covell workshop at Klock Werks in Mitchell, we are currently putting together a prospective list of students, so please contact Joe Mielke at service@kustomcycles.com or call the shop at (605) 996-3700. We do not have a date set and are not collecting registration fees at this time – we will contact you once the date is set. The class size is limited to 23 students. SO if you are interested at all, contact Joe. Specific questions about the workshop should be directed to Ron through his website (www.covell.biz). More information will be sent out as the details are set.

Second, our very own, Brian Klock, will participate in the 3rd Annual Sturgis Builders Breakfast at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5 at the Broken Spoke during the Sturgis Bike Rally. This event raises money for the South Dakota Make A Wish Foundation to use in helping kids see their last wish come to life.

This year, the event has been slightly modified in that the $25 entry fee will be waived to accommodate the untimely economy and overpriced gas. The Builders will bring their bikes with them to the Meet and Greet area, and you can have your picture taken with them on their bike! There will be an auction with one-of-a-kind items and the “skull cap” will be passed to collect donations for the S.D. Make A Wish Foundation. If you are unable to attend the event but want to make a special donation of $25, call (561) 392-5557. With the changes, this event is more about the kids and less about the food – the way it should be!

Next Up on the Klock Werks’ Calendar

The Klock Werks truck and Krew will be in Chamberlain, S.D. at the Pepsi Racing Power Cup Challenge and Sturdevant’s Auto Parts “Shine on the River Car/Bike Show” on July 12-13. The Krew will be set up in the parking lot above the Marina, and the show is open is open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

We will be doing FREE installs on our FLARE Windshields, selling LOGO apparel and have several bikes on display. Highlighting the bikes on display will be the S&S 50th Swap Meet Louie Bike which took home third place of ten in the talent-filled X-Wedge group at the S&S 50th Anniversary 50 Builders/50 Bikes in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Also on display will be the WFB (“World’s Fastest Bagger”) which our very own Laura Klock piloted to a 2006 AMA National Land Speed Record and 2007 SCTA National Land Speed Record of 146.297.

The Hydroplane races begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Sunday at 11:30 am. The races will run both days into the late afternoon. The Unlimited Light Hydroplanes are the fastest growing class of race boats in the country. With an average length of 24’, the unique boats have dynamic, powerful big block automotive engines or blown alcohol engines that generate 1200 horsepower and can reach speeds up to 150 mph.

This is the first time that Chamberlain has hosted this national event and On the Edge will be taping the race on July 13th to air on the SPEED channel.

Another highlight in the weekend schedule is a concert by Kory and the Fireflies on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. at Don Giese Football Field.

Attend a national event without having to drive far. Stop by our truck and watch some SPEED on the river. If you don’t attend this event – you will miss out!

Proud to be an American and a Member of the KW Krew

As the 4th of July lies just days away, it is the time of year that we can reflect on what it means to be an American and how we should feel blessed to have the freedoms that many have lost their life fighting for. We live in a great country and are able to enjoy independence because of the troops that have represented and served the USA. Please support our troops – wherever they are!

The Klock Werks Krew is back in the shop after a long weekend in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, at the S&S 50th Anniversary 50 Builder/50 Bike Build-off. The KW bike placed third out of ten entered in the X-Wedge group which was stacked with talent including Mike “Kiwi” Thomas, Orange County Choppers, Bourget’s Bike Works, Chopper Daves, Big Bear Choppers, Walz Harcore Cycles, AQG Motociclette, Dougz Custom Paint, Fred Kodlin Murdercycles, and Road Rage Custom New Zealand. Thanks to all of you that supported us and voted for our bike online. Check out some final photos of the bike on kustombaggers.com under bikes/in the werks. Stop by our showroom to see the Swap Meets Louie S&S Klock Werks bike on display.
